still life

Still-life photography is about giving quiet objects a visual voice. Colour, composition, texture, lighting, and object placement all have to work together with intention. Unlike people or food, inanimate objects do not naturally express emotion, so the mood has to come from the set design, styling, and visual language.

Whether photographed indoors or outdoors, each setting brings a different approach. Adding human interaction can introduce another layer of emotion, but even without it, a strong still-life image can tell a story through balance, detail, and atmosphere. Sometimes, the simplest images are the hardest to create.
